September Suicide Prevention Classes
September is Suicide Prevention Month
Anaconda Family Resource Center Announces Suicide Prevention
Classes.
No one ever said being a teenager is easy. With the start of a new
school year now would be a good time to check in on our kids and their
mental health.
The Anaconda Family Resource Center will be offering training in the
QPR Institute’s Gatekeeper method of suicide prevention. QPR stands
for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can
learn to help save a life from suicide. Gatekeepers can be anyone, but
include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors,
nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers,
advisors, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others who are
strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of
suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save
thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to
recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question,
persuade, and refer someone to help.
September is Suicide Prevention Month. If your organization, church
group, or group of friends, is interested in suicide prevention training,
Anaconda Family Resources is taking reservations to have us train your
group. Training takes about 90 minutes and is free!
AFRC is also offering a group training session on Wednesday,
September 27th at a location and time to be announced. For more
information call 406-563-7972 or visit anacondafrc.org for information
and registration.
